Visit to the Careers Hub in the Metrocentre
Return to Latest News
As part of Careers Week and also to linking with Community Inclusion, Elm Class visited the Careers Hub at the Metrocentre. The pupils took part in lots of activities to gain an understanding and recognise the skill employers look for in an employee. All of the pupils were able to give examples through group work and discussions with one another and showed great knowledge.
After completing some classroom based tasks, the pupils then went to visit a food outlet (Grounded Kitchen) to meet an employee and ask some relevant questions about his role - they were very confident and ask about the qualifications and key skills required to do the job. Everyone remained engaged and enthusiastic throughout the morning’s activities, showed respect and maturity at all times.
Being in the Metrocentre, also gave them the opportunity to use their communication skills further through visiting shops, engaging with shop staff and using money management to pay for items.
The pupils really enjoyed the chance to choose where they purchased their lunch from, which meal deals were best value and what food outlets had the best offers. They are already asking to organise another visit, it was that successful.
