Visit to the Winter Gardens

Last week, Birch Class had a fabulous trip to the winter gardens. As they are studying 'Local history' for their Humanities topic, the pupils are focusing on the shipyards, so they decided a visit to the museum would be perfect.

The pupils explored the museum and enjoyed finding out all about both the shipyards and our mining industry and its demise over the decades. They also enjoyed the exhibitions, which included a Lowry display and aptly, an exhibition from a local artist all about life after the mines closed down.

Everyone had a wonderful day and it was a joy to see the pupils so engaged and inquisitive about their own history.
