Elm Class Practice and Prepare for Their Expedition
Return to Latest News
This half term, Elm Class have been practising their independence skills in preparation for their Duke of Edinburgh Expedition. Despite it being an incredibly short half term, they have packed lots in and built on their confidence for the upcoming trip.
The pupils started in the first week by putting up the tents on the field. They did this in small group,s and the camaraderie and teamwork were fabulous to behold. Thrown in with this was a healthy dose of competitiveness, which guaranteed that the pupils worked hard to erect their tents. The second week, they made noodles in the cookery room as independently as possible by following the recipe on the pack. Following this, we worked outdoors with the camp stoves where we learnt how to insert the gas canisters safely and made noodles and hot dogs. In the last week, they took the camp stoves outdoors again and made bacon sandwiches, which they enjoyed al fresco. They are all looking forward to a half-term break and then doing it all again for real on their Expedition.
