Amazing Maths and Life Skills in Duke of Edinburgh Award
Return to Latest News
On Tuesday, Cedar Class pupils and staff embarked on a great adventure to Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve. Once everyone arrived from their short bus ride, they were ready to take off on their walk for their Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition. Rainton Meadows was created when the Rye Hill opencast coalmine was restored by Durham Wildlife Trust.
The pupils decided to follow the blue path, which led them through the beautiful surroundings, passing wildlife hideouts, grassland and grazing, Joe's Pond, and Nicholason's hill. Overall, the pupils and staff covered 5km of land. Everyone showed great team-building skills, resilience, and determination to complete the walk.
