We Visited a Buddhist Temple!

On Monday, Pine Class and Maple Class visited Dhammakaya Meditation Centre of Newcastle, which is our local Buddhist Temple in Hebburn.

They first entered the temple and were met by one of the lead monks. He showed them around the church and explained the history of how they discovered the church and adopted it. For over 150 years, the old iconic church of Andrew Leslie, St Andrew’s church, had been disused for decades before a group of Thai monks brought it to life again in 2012.

It was beautiful studying the stained glass windows, painted ceilings, and spherical crystals. They then visited the building connected to the temple, where they were introduced to meditation. Everyone sat and listened to the calming voices and instructions of the monks who taught them how to find inner peace and happiness.
