On Tuesday we had the pleasure of a visit from a local voluntary organisation called ‘Keep Washington Tidy’. They gave a talk to four of our classes about how they go litter picking and how different types of litter can have a huge impact on the environment and local wildlife.

We learned some interesting facts about which items are biodegradable and which can stay around forever. The ladies from the organisation were pleased to hear that our school has encouraged litter picking in the local area and lots of our students had done this before in lessons about community and the environment.

We have arranged another visit in a few weeks during which our students will be going into the local area litter picking with the organisation and the presentation will given to the remaining three classes. Thank you ‘Keep Washington Tidy’ for an engaging and interesting talk on an important topic to us all.
