On Monday, Oak Class pupils and staff had the honour of visiting a fabulous Buddhist church in Hepburn, where they found that Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist school founded by the great Indian Buddhist Master Atisha (AD 982-1054). On arrival, one of the monks welcomed everyone into the grand hall, where he showed everyone the beautiful statues covered in gold and diamonds. The floor shone like a clear river, on a summers day.

The pupils then walked to the living quarters where everything was shimmering with bright whiteness. The monk then explained about their faith and how it brings many people together. After this, they were lucky to join in a fantastic meditation session, where they focused on bringing their worries forward and turning them into positive thoughts.

After the wonderful visit, Oak Class continued their day by having a lovely trip to Whitley Bay beach, where they enjoyed a picnic and time to play in the sand, digging very big holes.
