What a wonderful day Oak Class had on their trip to Souter Lighthouse nature reserve. Their day began with a lovely ride on a double decker bus, and then on arrival everyone the pupils met the volunteers in the special nature lookout room where they were told about the day’s activities.

After this, everyone joined the volunteers for a walk down to the beach to begin their rock pooling activity, and they were so excited to search for the sea creatures that were washed up in the pools. So many wonderful things were found like mini crabs, large crabs and different types of sea enemies. They even got to see a scorpion fish.

Afterwards, the pupils went off for their lunch, where they sat with Willow and Ash Class. Then they had the opportunity to listen to the story of Souter Lighthouse and all of its magnificent history. They then had a trip all the way to the very top of the lighthouse and even had the chance to turn on the light itself. What an amazing opportunity to be a part of.

Oak Class pupils and staff had the most wonderful day and are very grateful to all of the volunteers that made the day so special.
